Netflix’s ‘How To Ruin Love: The Lobola’ release date confirmed

How To Ruin Love: The Lobola will premiere on Friday, 19 December 2025 on Netflix, the popular online streamer revealed on Wednesday (12 November).
It follows the success of its precursor in the franchise, How To Ruin Love: The Proposal, which released in May 2024.
The comedy series is a spin off from the popular How to Ruin Christmas, which debuted on Netflix in 2020 and ran for three seasons.

“Our love birds are making their way back to the screen in How To Ruin Love: The Lobola. Premiering on 19 December only on Netflix,” the streamer confirmed in a post on X.
Following a successful proposal, the second season follows Zoleka (played by Sivenathi Mabuya) and Kagiso’s (played by Bohang Moeko) families as they prepare for their union.
However, tradition, pride and secrets threaten to ruin everything as relatives meddle, and a famous bride-to-be adds to the chaos.
Award-winning thespian Zola Nombosa has joined the cast in what will be her Netflix debut. Gqeberha: The Empire star Tembinkosi Ngcukana is similarly making his debut with a role in the series.
Besides Sivenathi and Bohang, actors who featured in the first season include Marjorie Langa, John Morapama, Sandile Mahlangu, S’dumo Mtshali and Thando Thabethe.
Others were Noxolo Dlamini, Nefisa Mkhabela, Mapaseka Koetle, Tina Jaxa, Dumisani Mbebe and Thabo Malema.
The series is created and produced by Katleho Ramaphakela and Rethabile Ramaphakela through their Burnt Onion Productions. Their sibling Tshepo Ramaphaleka also served as executive producer.
They were also behind How to Ruin Christmas and other titles such as Seriously Single, Entangled, Bedford Wives and Thuli no Thulani. Phuthi Nakene serves as a producer on the series, with Lwazi Mvusi as head writer.
