LEKOMPO artist Shebeshxt has been arrested in connection with an alleged attempted murder case.

The arrest happened on Tuesday, 12 November.

He was arrested on two counts of attempted murder.

The singer, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke (30), allegedly shot at a motorist during a road rage incident on 19 October 2025.

According to Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, he was arrested in Bendor, Polokwane.

“The police in Limpopo have arrested a 30-year-old popular musician during an intelligence-driven operation conducted in the upmarket suburb of Bendor, outside Polokwane, on Wednesday morning, 12 November 2025, at about 9:30 am.

“The arrest was executed through a joint operation between the Provincial Investigation Unit and the Provincial Tracking Team following the issuance of a warrant of arrest linked to a case of two counts of attempted murder registered at Westenburg SAPS,” he said.

It's alleged that Shebeshxt had a confrontation with another motorist, during which he fired several shots at another vehicle, injuring a 34-year-old man who was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

The provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe, commended the investigation and operational teams for their meticulous work and swift action.

“We are taking this matter very seriously, and a dedicated team was appointed to ensure that no stone is left unturned. The South African Police Service reiterates that no one is above the law, regardless of their social standing,” she said.

Shebeshxt, known for hits such as Ambulance, has faced several legal issues over the years.

In 2023, he was arrested in Limpopo for assault, attempted murder, and malicious damage to property after allegedly firing shots at a family home.

The firearm-related charges were later dropped.

He has also been seen brandishing a gun in public and assaulting fans at events.

The artist is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Thursday, 13 November 2025.
