So I decided to be optimistic today, you know, tryna do the grown thing, apply for a few jobs since I got the time and energy. Cool, right? I’m feelin’ good, got my coffee, got a little pep in my step. Then I see this job on Idealist for a position I already applied to months ago. The same one I’m qualified for. The same one I’d be passionate about. So I’m like okay bet, maybe they reopened it, maybe they tryna find someone like me this time. Okay, lies, I was really thinkin’, umm did you not see my résumé I sent you prior? Cuz if you still hiring, that means you must’ve skipped past me. 👀

But then I get to the bottom and read: “Please do not use AI to generate your cover letters.”

PAUSE.
Hold up. Wait a damn minute.

So you mean to tell me I gotta spend hours of my unpaid time pourin’ out my heart, my energy, my brain cells, for a company that might not even read my shit? When y’all out here using AI yourselves to scan my résumé like I’m spam mail? And you wanna act like you value “authenticity” and “passion” while you ghost people who actually got both?
