In a world filled with so many kinds of relationships, The Girlfriend takes us through the journey of two very different people when they come together in one.

This is a movie for every woman who faces toxicity in relationships and the harsh judgments of society.

This movie is the answer for those who play dramatic victim card after breakup ( I am not mocking the genuine feelings)
In fact, in a broader sense, this movie isn’t about gender at all — it is the movie of every vocal cord craving for that “Voice out and speak out” moment.
It’s for every mind longing to say, “Stand up for yourself, for your dreams.”
It’s for every heart that wants to beat not just for a soulmate, parents, or friends — but for itself.
It’s for every soul that cries for liberation.

These emotions are beautifully explored through the story of two contrasting personalities in a relationship — one active and one passive. In this film, the active partner is male — controlling type, and the passive one is female-The vocal cords of whom are paralysed . The story takes us through the suffocation, struggles, loss, and realization the passive one goes through — and how she finally responds to it , wheather she recovers her paralysed cords ??
That’s the soul of the movie.

When it comes to performances —
Rashmika Mandanna, as Bhooma, lives the character.
Deekshith Shetty makes us truly believe he is Vikram.
Anu Emmanuel, as Durga, does complete justice to her role. I sincerely wish there is a “Durga” in everyone’s life — and that you, yourself, become one in someone else’s life.
The supporting cast, too, neatly complements the leads

The music is simply awesome — it makes us feel as if we are part of the film itself.
A special mention to the song “Needhe Needhe Katha” —
It says, “It’s your story — make it yours. Today is the day you take control of your life.”
Lyrics by Rakendu Mouli, sung by Anurag Kulkarni, with additional vocals by Hesham Abdul Wahab and Rakendu Mouli — the song gives the film its soul, depth, and goosebumps.

Every person who poured their heart into this movie — hats off!

And last but not least —
the whole and soul of this film, Rahul Ravindran, the director and writer —
Thank you for giving us such a soulful story.
