The traditional prime minister to King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, Thulasizwe Buthelezi, is demanding that KZN Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Mngadi apologise for calling him a rapist and a sex pest, failing which she must pay him R10-million.
Buthelezi sent a letter of demand through his lawyers on Thursday, instructing Simelane-Mngadi to publicly retract the accusation and apologise for defaming him at an ANC rally held on 24 March in Vryheid.
The letter said Simelane-Mngadi made an untrue and defamatory statement that is circulating widely on social media.
“We are instructed to demand that you formally and publicly retract your state
ment within seven days, failing which, our client will have no option but to seek damages in the amount of R10-million,” the letter says.
Simelane-Mngadi told ANC supporters at the rally that Buthelezi must be removed from the mayorship of Zululand because he abused women.
She also raised allegations made by a former woman member of the ANC’s Mzala Nxumalo regional executive committee, who accused Buthelezi of demanding sex from her.
The woman, whose name is known to Scrolla.Africa, was fired from the ANC after she accused Jackson Mthembu, the late chief whip of the ANC, of misleading South Africans about the Covid-19 outbreak.
After being fired from the ANC, she joined the National Freedom Party but later resigned and joined the IFP-led Zululand district municipality.
