JOZI FM presenter Penny Ntuli escaped death when she was involved in a car accident.

Penny, from Durban in KZN, who recently made waves after leaving Gagasi FM over a R2 800 salary, was involved in a car accident on Tuesday, 7 May, while travelling from Durban to Joburg.

The 27-year-old radio presenter had recently relocated from Durban to Joburg after she was able to host a morning show on Jozi FM.

She said she was now familiar with Joburg and decided to drive to Durban to get her car. Unfortunately, she was involved in a car accident and narrowly escaped death.

Her car was badly damaged, and she thanked God she had not sustained any injuries during the accident.

She said she was driving on the N3 motorway when wood fell from a truck out of nowhere and hit her car directly.

"At that point, I had no chance to brake hard because cars were following me. If I swerved and moved into the slow lane, I would have collided with other cars.

"The only option I had was to swerve off the road and no matter what I would have done, the car would have been damaged either way. No one was hurt. As long as we're still alive, we're grateful," she said.

Penny's manager Bongumusa Mncube also confirmed that no one was injured in the accident.

Penny shocked Mzansi when she gave KZN-based commercial radio station Gagasi FM the boot after the station wanted to pay her R2 800 a month for her Sunday shows in March.

Mzansi sympathised with her and accused the radio station of exploiting her until she was recruited by Joburg-based Jozi FM in April.
