Opel has just revealed the latest iteration of its Grandland SUV, signalling a significant departure from its predecessor. Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming model.

Drawing inspiration from the Opel Experimental concept, the new Grandland incorporates several design elements, including the prominent 3D Vizor with an illuminated Blitz logo upfront and illuminated “OPEL” lettering at the rear. Notable additions also include the Intelli-Lux Pixel HD lighting system with over 50 000 individual elements and the utilization of the BEV-native STLA Medium platform, facilitating a sizable 98 kWh battery. Opel claims this will grant the Grandland Electric a range of approximately 700 kilometres on WLTP testing.
In addition to the electric version, Opel will introduce a combustion engine variant, equipped with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine and a 48-volt mild hybrid system. A plug-in hybrid version is slated for later release, boasting an estimated 80 km of electric-only range. The company has set ambitious goals, aiming to transition into an EV-only brand by 2028. Compared to its predecessor, the new Grandland boasts considerable dimensional growth, with an increase of 173 mm in length, 19 mm in height, and 64 mm in width.

This expansion brings the SUV’s measurements to 4 650 mm in length, 1 905 mm in width, and 1 660 mm in height, riding on a lengthy wheelbase of 2 784 mm. Consequently, both cargo space and rear legroom see improvements, with an additional 36 litres in the boot and 20 mm more legroom for rear passengers.
The interior receives notable upgrades, including a sizable 16-inch infotainment screen, a heads-up display, and enhanced seating features. The seats now boast powered side bolsters, ventilation, and a massage function, with a specific design aimed at alleviating pressure on the tailbone.
Opel CEO Florian Huettl expressed enthusiasm for the new Grandland, hailing it as a significant milestone for the brand. He emphasized Opel’s commitment to electrification, highlighting the Grandland’s role in their electric offensive. Huettl noted the unmistakable influence of the Opel Experimental concept in the Grandland’s design, asserting that the SUV will solidify Opel’s presence in the competitive C-SUV segment.
