ANC loses copyright case against MKĀ

The ANC has lost the copyright case it brought before the Durban High Court to stop the uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) Party from using its logo.

In a very brief ruling that was handed down by the Durban High Court on Monday, the court dismissed the matter with costs.

The ANC brought the case to court claiming that it owns the MK logo and its use was going to confuse voters at the ballot.

However, it then emerged in court that the ANC only bought the copyright from an entity called the Legacy Project.

The ANC leadership did not even bother to come to court while the MK Party led by former president Jacob Zuma brought its top legal minds and its founder, Jabulani Khumalo.

Addressing the media after the victory, Khumalo said the court case was an attempt to derail them and it was futile.

He said from now onwards they will focus on campaigning ahead of the 29 May elections.
