Former Orlando Pirates captain Edelbert Dinha believes that the current Pirates squad have the quality to match Mamelodi Sundowns ‘pound for pound’.
Pirates, who have already won the MTN8 trophy this season, are still in the hunt for the Nedbank Cup, and are one of the clubs currently chasing second spot in the DStv Premiership.
Dinha was speaking to Velile Mnyandu in Edition 145 of iDiski Times, and said things are looking on the up for Jose Riveiro’s team.
“Pirates have got a very good squad,” Dinha told iDiski Times.
“You know the way they are playing, you look at everything that they are doing. With a very good coach and a very good technical team, thumbs up to them.
“I think they are doing a very good job and they’ve got the quality and can also match Sundowns pound for pound. They’ve got a team that can compete.
“They’ve got a well-balanced squad that can also compete in the CAF competitions, especially if you look in all the departments.
“I think they will do well and be able to progress further and they also play a good brand of entertaining football, something you expect from a big game.”
