England cricket captain Ben Stokes has been keeping himself busy - and fans entertained - after finding himself at a loose end in Manchester.

Stokes' wife and two children flew out to the States to visit Disneyland earlier this week. But the iconic England star was unable to join them as he does not yet have the right visa to enter the country.

Instead, he has been attempting to kill time in Manchester, having been stuck there for the last four days. Stokes has been sharing hilarious updates of himself attempting to kill time on his social media accounts.

And for an elite sportsman, Stokes has been taking it easy with his diet, eating his dinner in Nando's for three successive days. He rated one of his meals as '10/10' as he cheekily wrote ' Manchester City Centre getting a good customer in me'.

On day two of his wait, Stokes posted an image from a pavement with the caption 'Day 2 of stuck in Manchester waiting for my visa, just gonna walk around'. The England skipper ended up walking for 22 kilometres - the equivalent of running about 1243 singles.

He posted a map of his walk, which took more than four hours to complete and went from the city centre down to Alexandra Park. He also travelled to the cinema on his own, as he became increasingly desperate.

On Wednesday night, Stokes travelled to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United's win over Sheffield United. He sat high in the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand, sharing a photo of his view with the caption 'Aye Decent'.

Interspersed with the updates of his travels around Manchester, Stokes has also posted photos of his family at Disneyland. One of those pictures saw his wife and children standing with Mickey Mouse alongside the caption 'Missing my gang'.

Stokes' unfortunate luck comes three weeks after he confirmed that he will not be considered for selection for this summer's T20 World Cup. The 32-year-old is instead focusing on getting fully fit, though wished his team-mates luck.

“I’m working hard and focusing on building my bowling fitness back up to fulfil a full role as an all-rounder in all formats of cricket. Opting out of the IPL and the World Cup will hopefully be a sacrifice that allows me to be the all-rounder I want to be for the foreseeable future," he said.

“The recent Test tour of India highlighted how far behind I was from a bowling point of view after my knee surgery and nine months without bowling. “I wish Jos, Motty and all the team the best of luck in defending our title.”

England start their World Cup campaign against Scotland in Barbardos on 4 June. They will then take on Australia, Oman, and Namibia in the group stages before qualification for the Super 8s and knockouts.
