EFF clashes with ActionSA with over hungry students

The EFF in KwaZulu-Natal is angry with ActionSA for what it claims is an attempt to use the party’s name to score political points.

The head-butting started on Monday when it was announced that Zwakele Mncwango, the premier candidate for ActionSA in KwaZulu-Natal, would be going to Esikhawini TVET College on Tuesday to donate food.

Strikes have gripped the college in recent weeks as students claim they have no food and NSFAS has not paid their allowances.

Nkululeko Ngubane, the KwaZulu-Natal EFF secretary, was angered when he learnt that Mncwango was going to deliver food to the students via the EFF Student Command, which has been leading the strike for weeks.

Ngubane aired his displeasure on a WhatsApp group.

“Those people [students] would have defined themselves outside the EFF. I find this provocative from ActionSA as well,” Ngubane wrote.

He confirmed to Scrolla.Africa that the message came from him and said he was advising Mncwango to assist the learners honestly.

“We [were] just urging Mr Mncwango to assist students honestly and stop using EFF’s good name in his desperation to get one seat in the provincial legislature. Why doesn’t he just say students from Esikhawini TVET and leave us [the EFF] out of this,” Ngubane said.

Mncwango said the students were happy to see ActionSA coming to their rescue.

“The EFF SRC [students representative council] was there to welcome us. They said they are there to assist needy students,” Mncwango said.
