Freddie Flintoff's son Rocky has recorded his first century for Lancashire, showing he's a chip off the old block.

The 16-year-old has risen up the ranks at the county, having joined their academy at a young age. He has also played club cricket for Southport and Birkdale as he looks to emulate his legendary father, who became an icon of the sport.

He only made his second XI debut earlier this month, before smashing an unbeaten half-century against Durham last week. Rocky reached another milestone on Tuesday, hitting 116 off 165 balls as Lancashire's second team travelled to Warwickshire.

His impressive knock included a 39-run partnership with older brother Corey. Lancashire released a highlights package of the younger sibling's best shots, including two fantastic pulls to the boundary.

This was Rocky's first senior century and came at the same ground where his father famously produced a man of the match performance to help England beat Australia by two runs in the 2005 Ashes series, in a game now seen as one of the greatest Tests ever.

The 16-year-old pulled off a number of impressive shots, showing a deft touch to pick gaps in the field, as well as powering through mid-wicket. He brought up three figures with a backfoot drive, punching the air in celebration as he ran to the non-striker's end.

In total, he hit 11 fours and three sixes, before his innings was eventually ended when he was caught by Warwickshire star Che Simmons. Rocky's total was the highest of the Lancashire team.

That helped them to rack up a score of 404/8 before they declared and put Warwickshire into bat. The hosts were 135/4 after 38 overs, putting Lancashire in control of the match.

Rocky certainly seems set for a bright future, though it remains to be seen if he is as good with the ball as he is with the bat. His dad meanwhile is preparing to take of the Northern Superchargers for the upcoming Hundred season.

"I am excited to have been appointed head coach of the Northern Superchargers men's team. My time with the England men's team has been a reminder of just how special cricket is to me," he said when he was announced as their head coach.

"And I'm relishing the opportunity to be back amongst it, helping to guide the Superchargers team to success on the field while making memories off it and helping to take cricket to more people.

"The Superchargers have a great fan base who I cannot wait to meet and bring along with us this season. I'm looking forward to making Headingley my new home."
