1000 meals made their way to hungry tummies on a single Sunday thanks to the Food for Life South Africa team!

Tongaat, South Africa (25 April 2024) — Food for Life South Africa recently celebrated 1000 acts of kindness that lit up the past Sunday in Tongaat and surrounding areas after as many meals were distributed to hungry tummies.

The vegetarian meals were packed with nutrition, as hope, as each serving reminded someone who really needed it that there are people who have not forgotten them.

For Food for Life SA, serving meals in the hundreds and thousands is their version of ‘another day in the office’, with the ultimate goal being to alleviate hunger across the country.

With teams dispersed across South Africa, Food for Life SA has long been at work in making sure underserved communities, non-profits and soup kitchens have had meals to look forward to, as inspired by the organisation’s beginnings in India, where the sight of children fighting over foods craps against dogs got founder Srila Prabhupada ready to enact tangible change.

In April alone, the Food for Life Newlands team distributed a whopping 31400 wholesome meals, with a large focus on making sure school goers got their fill.

Massive pots, countless community acts of kindness, volunteers and determined team members all make the magic in the kitchen possible, and in turn shed light on how sometimes, hope is as simple as a hearty meal.

The organisation is one of many working to feed South Africans, where community support is essential to getting the job done.
